This year, the Pride Center's annual PrideFest 5K Walk/ Run will be shaking things up a bit. In lieu of a traditional race format, this year's race entrants will compete not against one another but against their own predictions in a 'guess your time' format race.
During registration, runners will give a prediction of their race time. They will be able to make changes to their predictions up to one week prior to the race, but predictions may not exceed a time cut off of one hour.
On race day, the overall fastest runner will still be announced winner and receive an award as usual but all other awards will be distributed based on predictions with the top 10 most accuracy predictors honored regardless of their placement.
There will be no age or gender categories since neither will be necessary. Under this format, not only will experienced runners face a novel challenge, but runners of all ages, gender orientations and abilities will compete on an equal footing.
The 5K is registered for competitive runners, and will take place on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens.
Tracking chips, race bibs, and race statistics are available to all runners.. Registering as a walker gives you a race bib with number, but does not include tracking and statistics.
Child Registration is for a 2.5K Run.
