The population of LGBT people age 60 and up has grown exponentially on Staten Island in the past few years: SAGE-Pride Center Staten Island was formed to offer critical support and resources.
The expansion into Staten Island is part of a city-wide initiative to expand SAGE services across New York City, funded by the New York City Council. The program expands upon the work of the Staten Island LGBT Community Center and SAGE to to help LGBT older adults enjoy healthy, active aging in their community.
SAGE-Pride Center Staten Island addresses the unique needs of the Staten Island LGBT older adult community through education, advocacy, and social support services.
SAGE-Pride Center Staten Island is committed to providing high-quality, life-enriching programs and events that value participants’ age, gender, racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. SAGE-Staten Island aims to foster a greater understanding of the rights and needs of LGBT older adults.
Furthermore, SAGE-Pride Center of Staten Island does a fair amount of inter-generational Programming - be it with adults, young adults or teens. We feel that we can all learn from one another and help enrich each others lives.
