This service will last for 6 weeks and be oriented around connecting clients to relevant resources. Linkage to service will be specific to each client and their needs, but some examples include: finding and making doctors appointments, scheduling HRT appointments, job search help, housing help, clothing resources, food pantry resources, and help with SNAP/EBT/WIC applications, among other services. The goal of these services is twofold: to help provide tangible access to resources at the clients’ request and to help provide accountability and connection as the clients navigate these resources. goes here

This service will encompass 2 45-minute sessions in which a clinician will get a sense of the clients’ needs, lived experience of gender dysphoria, and a narrative of the clients’ life. After these 2 sessions, the clinician will create a letter that documents historical evidence of gender dysphoria in order to help the client access gender-affirming medicine. This service is FREE and open to all individuals aged 13+.

The Pride Center of Staten Island has partnered with GC2B Cares in order to offer our participants FREE binders. In order to get a binder, you must schedule a 20-minute, in-person sizing appointment with one of our clinicians. As long as we have the available size, you will leave the sizing appointment with a binder.

Career help services are offered by appointment, are FREE, and are individualized to each client. Help can include job research, information about different careers, resume help, LinkedIn help, and interview prep.

Career help services are offered by our lead volunteer Pete Dugan. Pete Dugan has been a volunteer with the Pride Center since 2017. He has worked for New York City Transit (MTA) for the past 34 years. Pete is a Brooklynite who graduated from George Westinghouse high school and continued his education in management at New Paltz University in 1994. Pete spent ten years with the Ledgedale Dive and Rescue Team as a volunteer rescue diver in Pennsylvania. In his spare time, Pete is a handyperson who loves doing carpentry, electrical and plumbing work.
